- 2 Tbsp (30ml) cooking oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
- 2 carrots, peeled and grated
- 500g mince
- Salt and pepper for seasoning
- 1 Tbsp (15ml) Hinds Spices Medium Curry Powder
- 1 tsp (5ml) Hinds Spices Turmeric
- 25g (50g sachet) Rhodes Quality Tomato Paste
- 2 Tbsp (30ml) Bisto Original Gravy Powder
- 1½ cups (375ml) beef stock
- 2 Tbsp (30ml) parsley, chopped
- 500g store bought bread dough
- Oil for frying
- ¼ fruit chutney
METHOD
- Heat the oil in a medium sized pot, fry the onion and garlic for 2 minutes. Add the carrots and mince and fry for 5 minutes until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the Hinds Spices Medium Curry Powder, Hinds Spices Turmeric, Rhodes Quality Tomato Paste, Bisto Original Gravy Powder and beef stock, and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
- Stir in half the chopped parsley and set aside.
- Shape the dough into balls, and fry in hot oil for 3 minutes. Remove from the oil and set aside. Cut the fried buns open and fill with the mince. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with chutney on the side.
