Masala Steak Gatsby with Gerkins and Pickled Onions

Ingredients

Steak
 1 Tbsp Hinds Steak and Chops Spice
 1 tsp Pakco Traditional Roasted Masala
 700 – 800 g tenderised minute steaks
 Canola oil, to fry
 2 Tbsp butter or margarine
Gatsby
 2 long French loves, cut in half
 150 / ½ cup g mayonnaise
 2 Tbsp/ 60g Packo Mango Atchar
 150 - 200 g lettuce
 200 g / 2 whole tomatoes, sliced
 160 g / 4 Rhodes Quality Dill Gherkins, sliced
 80 g / 4 Rhodes Quality Hot Pickled Onions, sliced
 8 slices cheese
 500 g deep-fried chips, tossed in Hinds Salt and Vinegar Spice

Method

Steak

1 Sprinkle the Hinds Steak and Chops Spice and Pakco Traditional Roasted Masala over the tenderised minute steaks. Heat the oil and the butter in a large frying pan and cook the steaks on a high heat for 1 - 2 minutes each side. Remove the steaks from the frying pan and set aside. Keep the juices.

Gatsby

1 Combine the mayonnaise and Pakco Mango Atchar and spread onto the bottom of the sliced French loaf. Add lettuce, tomato, gherkins, pickled onions and steak in layers, finishing with the cheese slices.

2 Combine the steak juice with deep-fried chips and evenly scatter onto the Gatsby. Cover with the top of the French loaf and serve.

Chef's Tip

Instead of tenderised beef steak, you can use Bull Brand Corned Beef. Gatsby’s are made to share!
